Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene Copolymer

Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene Copolymer

THERMOPLASTIC RESINS

Information

SIS copolymer, or Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene copolymer, is a type of thermoplastic elastomer that combines the properties of styrene and isoprene. Similar to SBS copolymers, SIS copolymers consist of hard polystyrene blocks and soft isoprene blocks, which impart rubber-like elasticity and flexibility while allowing for easy processing like thermoplastics. SIS copolymers are known for their excellent tensile strength, resilience, and low-temperature performance. They exhibit good adhesion properties and are resistant to UV light and aging, making them suitable for a variety of applications. Common uses include adhesives, sealants, coatings, and as modifiers for other polymers to improve their performance. The unique combination of properties in SIS copolymers makes them valuable in industries such as automotive, construction, and consumer products, where flexibility, durability, and processability are essential.
