Bridged-EMG Neuromuscular Stimulator SQMN2.0
Rehabilitation
Information
The electromyography (EMG)-bridged limb neuromuscular stimulator is an innovative limb movement rehabilitation medical device developed by SQ-MED Co., Ltd. The innovation utilizes the principle of neural signal regeneration and EMG-bridged technology to achieve non-invasive functional electrical stimulation (FES) of paralyzed limbs using the EMG signal from a healthy limb. This achieves rehabilitation training or reconstruction of paralyzed limb motor function under the control of one’s own or others’ mind. In contrast of existing FES technology with manually set parameters, the advantage of the EMG-bridged medical instrument is that the electrical pulse signal of FES is regenerated from the bioelectrical signal generated by conscious movement of a healthy limb. Utilizing the neuroplasticity of the brain and spinal cord, the EMG-bridged limb neuromuscular stimulator is particularly suitable for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of limb motor function in hemiplegia caused by stroke and paraplegia caused by spinal cord injury.
As an international pioneering technology, the EMG-bridged limb neuromuscular stimulator has been granted Chinese and international invention patents, and is supported by more than ten related invention patents. This innovative technology is suitable for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of limb motor function in patients with hemiplegia, cerebral palsy, paraplegia, and disabled elderly people. So far, 5 product prototypes have been developed. Among them, the 1st prototype model has undergone clinical trials with over 100 subjects in multiple hospitals both domestically and internationally, demonstrating unique rehabilitation efficacy for paralyzed limb motor function. We have completed clinical trials on 120 hemiplegic patients in 4 hospitals in China, entered the process of applying for medical device registration certificates, and will soon enter the rehab medical market for application.
